Barrett Ronald D. Barrett
San Antonio, Texas

Ronald Barrett, born April 19, 1944 at McCarron Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada; died January 22, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas. Ronald moved to Grove, Oklahoma in 1947, where he attended the Grove Public Schools for 12 years, graduating with the class of 1962. Ron then attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. While attending OSU, he was active in the advanced Air Force R.O.T.C. and subsequently entered the United States Air Force as a Second Lieutenant. His Air Force career consisted of one year of training in the U.S., one year in Vietnam and two years in Europe. He worked in the Air Force Finance Department and earned a Master's of Business Administration while serving in the Air Force.

After his service in the Air Force, Ron enrolled in the Thunderbird International School of Business in Phoenix, Arizona. While enrolled there Ron met his future wife, Maryann, a school teacher. Ron remained active in the Air Force Reserves and retired in 1995 as a Lieutenant Colonel, following a total of thirty years combined active duty and reserve service. While in the Air Force, Ron was awarded the Bronze Star for his duty in Vietnam.

Following graduation Ron accepted a job with the American Express Bank and spent two years managing a bank in Okinawa. Ron and Maryann agreed that Okinawa was too far from family and friends, so they moved to San Antonio, Texas where he worked for the Air Force Non-appropriated Funds Division, which controls all P-Xs and commissaries world-wide. After Ron became a Certified Public Accountant, he and Maryann also established a successful private tax practice. Ron loved to hunt and fish and was an avid tennis player.
